How to brew with a coffee press
Brewing with a coffee press is called full-immersion brewing, as the grounds are immersed for the entire brew for a rich, bold cup.
What you’ll need
- Gooseneck kettle
- 8-cup coffee press
- Tablespoon
- Mug
- Spoon
- 54 grams whole bean coffee, coarse ground
- Hot water
Water–coffee ratio
• 10 grams (2 tablespoons) coarse-ground coffee per 180 grams (6 fluid ounces) of hot water
Directions
- Prepare: Preheat the coffee press by rinsing with hot water. Discard the water before adding the grounds.
- Add coffee: Add the ground coffee to the empty coffee press. Give it a little tap for a nice, even field.
- Pour water: Gently pour in a spiral motion to about an inch below the rim. The ideal temperature is just off the boil at 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Stir: Gently saturate the grounds by stirring a few times with a spoon.
- Brew: Secure the lid and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
- Plunge: Steadily push the plunger down to separate the coffee from the grounds.
- Serve: Pour your coffee into a mug and enjoy!
