Miffy + Starbucks: A charming new merch collection hops into U.S. and Canada coffeehouses

For Krystn Fuerst, who led the collaboration with Miffy for Starbucks, it’s their shared sense of joy and optimism that brought the coffee company together with the beloved bunny.
“With Miffy, we really felt a connection through her curiosity and gentle nature. I think that’s what people love about her,” Fuerst said. “We wanted her character to come alive through our signature drinkware to bring something new to Miffy fans and Starbucks customers.
Starting May 19, Starbucks is launching the limited-edition Miffy + Starbucks collection that includes drinkware, water bottles, gift cards and an adorable plush. Miffy fans in the United States and Canada have been clamoring for the collaboration after seeing its launch in Singapore and Asia Pacific.
Miffy’s story began in 1955 when Dutch artist Dick Bruna first drew the character to entertain his sonon a rainy day. What began as a series of picture books has grown to make Miffy a beloved character across generations and around the world. Throughout her many adventures, Miffy embraces the universal experiences of childhood; whether she is feeling shy or making new friends, this sweet bunny is always open to new experiences.
Today, Bruna’s books have sold more than 90 million copies and been translated into 50 languages. Miffy has leapt off the pages to become part of fashion, design, and more.

Part of Miffy’s enduring appeal is a sense of nostalgia and affection for the character, and the calmness her simple design evokes.
“Dick Bruna embraced simplicity – his illustrations capture an enduring childlike sense of joy. Her face and silhouette are instantly recognizable,” said Marja Kerkhof, who oversees the Miffy brand worldwide for Mercis bv. “We’ve seen some great reaction in other markets and we’re anticipating fans in the U.S. and Canada will love it as well.”
The collection is painted in a palette of summer colors: pinks and greens with bright splashes of poppy red and Starbucks signature green.
