All in for our City All In For Our Home Town
For more than 50 years, we’ve been proud to call Seattle home
From one store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1971, to nearly 33,000 stores serving customers globally – for over 50 years, Starbucks has always been about so much more than great coffee. After all, our mission at Starbucks is to “nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection.”
We have a responsibility to strengthen our communities and know Starbucks impact in communities is most meaningful when our efforts begin with our partners (employees) who know their neighbors best. Nowhere is that truer than our hometown of Seattle – where we’ve worked side by side with our neighbors and partners (employees) since the beginning.
Upcoming Hometown Events
Seattle is a happening place, and we are proud to be a part of local events that bring our neighbors together to support our communities.

Community Impact & Partnerships
We are honored to partner with nonprofit leaders in our hometown community who are committed to impacting some of the most pressing needs in Seattle. Through collaboration, programs and funding, together we can help create thriving neighborhoods for all. Here’s just a few of the partnerships we’re excited to highlight:
FareStart
Starbucks, The Starbucks Foundation and FareStart have worked together since 1996, helping advance FareStart’s mission to transform lives, disrupt poverty and nourish communities through food, life skills and job training.
Plymouth Housing
Plymouth Housing’s mission is to eliminate homelessness and address its causes by preserving, developing and operating safe, quality, supportive housing and by providing adults experiencing homelessness with opportunities to stabilize and improve their lives.
Mary’s Place
Mary’s Place provides safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness. Across nine emergency family shelters in Seattle and King County, they keep struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go providing shelter, services, resources, community and hope.
Wellspring Family Services
Wellspring Family Services is a nonprofit, multi-service agency serving low-income and vulnerable individuals, children and families in Seattle and King County. For more than 125 years, Wellspring has been a source of opportunity for children and families to win their resilience, triumph over trauma, and reach their full potential.
Our partnership has primarily focused on supporting barista and customer service training programs designed to empower youth experiencing homelessness with life skills, job readiness, training, and employment support for jobs in the food service industry. We’ve also provided equipment and furniture for FareStart cafes and training locations, and donated a mobile truck to help expand access to fresh, healthy food to communities who are underserved as part of FareStart’s outreach program.
Starbucks and Plymouth Housing have come together to increase access to permanent supportive housing, expand behavioral health services and support front-line staff who are critical to advancing Plymouth’s vision of a future where every person has a home and a better quality of life.
