Starbucks also expands the use of customers’ personal cups, becoming first national coffee retailer to accept reusable cups for every visit.
On Wednesday, Jan. 3, Starbucks greets the new year with a new winter menu. Making its debut is the Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, alongside returning fan favorite Pistachio Cream Cold Brew and Pistachio Latte. New Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes and the Vanilla Bean Custard Danish are also joining the winter menu.
Starbucks is also introducing more ways for customers to order with their personal cups. Since the 1980s, customers have been able to bring in their own clean, personal cup when ordering in the store, and beginning Jan. 3 customers can now use their personal cup when ordering in the drive-thru and the Starbucks app. This milestone achieves a goal Starbucks set in 2022 to make it easier for customers to use reusable cups and furthers Starbucks efforts to reduce waste by 50% by 2030.

Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
The new Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is made with Starbucks Blonde Espresso, which is sweetened with hazelnut syrup, and then shaken to perfection and topped with smooth, creamy oatmilk. This new beverage adds another plant-based milk option to the popular Iced Shaken Espresso lineup, which is available year-round at Starbucks locations in the U.S.
“Hazelnut is a classic coffeehouse flavor – its smooth, nutty taste is perfectly complemented by the candied apple and bittersweet chocolate notes of Starbucks Blonde Espresso. The oatmilk adds a creamy and luscious texture to round out the Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso,” said Starbucks beverage developer Billy Altieri.
Pistachio is Back
Fan-favorite pistachio beverages are back at Starbucks stores nationwide, for a limited time while supplies last.
The beloved Pistachio Latte features cozy flavors of sweet pistachio and a brown-buttery topping paired with espresso and steamed milk. The Pistachio Latte is available hot, iced or as a Frappuccino® blended beverage.
Also returning is the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, which features Starbucks® Cold Brew sweetened with vanilla syrup, topped with smooth, nutty pistachio cream cold foam and salted brown butter sprinkles.
New Food
New to Starbucks winter menu is the Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes that combine cage-free eggs, diced potatoes, cheddar cheese, spinach and a touch of chives and are baked until golden brown.
“When creating the Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes, we wanted to provide customers with a high-protein vegetarian option for their morning,” said Freshta Khosravi, a member of Starbucks food development team. “We were inspired by the familiar breakfast casserole, and the savory combination of diced potatoes, cheese, spinach, chives and eggs offers 12g of protein at only 210 calories for a comforting breakfast on-the-go.”
The new and irresistible Vanilla Bean Custard Danish is made with layers of sugared Danish dough, baked until golden brown and filled with a rich and velvety vanilla bean custard. Available at Starbucks stores nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last.
The Chicken, Maple Butter & Egg Sandwich joins the permanent menu, layering breaded white-meat chicken, fluffy eggs and a maple-butter spread on a toasted oat-biscuit roll, for a savory and sweet start to the day.

Bring Your Own Cup!
Beginning Jan. 3, 2024, customers can now use their own clean, personal cup for every visit at all company-operated stores and participating licensed stores in the U.S. and Canada – including drive-thru, the Starbucks app, and in café. Here’s how customers can order with a personal cup:
- In café, customers tell the barista when they order that they brought their own personal cup. Customers choosing to sit and stay in café can also request a reusable ceramic or glass cup at most stores.
- In drive-thru, while ordering, customers order their beverage as usual, and let the barista know they brought their own cup. At the pickup window, baristas will collect customers’ personal cup without the lid using a contactless vessel to ensure hygiene and safety. The beverage will be returned the same way.
- When customers order via the Starbucks app, first they will hit the “Customization” button and then select “Personal Cup” in the customization menu and continue ordering as normal. When they get to the store, customers connect with their barista at the pickup area, and hand over their clean personal cup without the lid. The barista will serve the beverage, add any finishing touches and pass it back in a contactless vessel.
Customers at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada who bring any clean, personal cup will receive a $0.10 discount on their beverage, and in the U.S., Starbucks Rewards members will receive 25 Bonus Stars.*
*Valid at participating stores on in-store, drive-thru, or in-app beverage purchases only (max 3x per day).
