Message to Starbucks Partners: Supporting Dreamers Today and Always

We wanted to provide an update that last week, we were proud to join over 50 companies in an amicus brief to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in support of the thousands of people who are DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients, including our own partners. The Appeals Court is continuing the legal process to decide if the DACA program can continue. We remain steadfast in our view that DACA recipients and Dreamers deserve a permanent path to citizenship.
Please know that there has been no immediate change to the program and participants should continue to renew their status as soon as they are eligible. You can learn more about how we support partners who are DACA recipients on the Partner Hub.
As we have said before, we continue to stand with our DACA partners and Dreamers who are participating fully in the economy, in our businesses and contributing positively to our communities.
Some of you may have heard on Wednesday about the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas decision on the legality of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program. While current DACA recipients can maintain their status at this time, we know that yesterday’s news only intensified uncertainty for nearly 600,000 DACA recipients in our nation. And we know that this group includes our own partners.
At Starbucks we strive to create a culture of warmth and belonging, where everyone is welcome. That’s why we have long advocated for Congress to reach a bi-partisan solution and legal path to citizenship for all DACA recipients and Dreamers. And in the interim we will continue to offer benefits and support for our partners who are DACA recipients. This includes reimbursement for the biennial fee required to stay in the DACA program and providing access to a free and confidential Immigration Advisor Program.
Please know this: we will continue to stand with the hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients and Dreamers impacted by the ruling, including those we are proud to call Starbucks partners. They are contributing to their community and to the economy – this is their home.
