Today, Wednesday, October 16, Starbucks partners (employees) delivered nearly 1.5 million signatures from the Come Together petition to elected leaders in Washington, D.C.
The petition calls on our elected leaders to come together to re-open the government, pay our debts on time and pass a bi-partisan and comprehensive long-term budget deal by the end of the year. Starbucks collected the signatures online and in its nearly 7,000 U.S. company-operated stores over the past week. More petitions are expected to arrive over the next few days both from Starbucks stores and other community organizations. Starbucks is tallying the number of signatures as the petitions arrive. The effort is approaching 2 million signatures with more than 1.7 million collected so far.
