Seattle – The Starbucks Card has been exceptionally popular since its launch in 2001 – with customers purchasing them for themselves and as gifts. Beginning in June 2009, a new smaller Starbucks Card will make its debut, adding that extra convenience for Starbucks customers on-the-go.
The introduction of a smaller version of the popular Starbucks Card is in response to customer and partner (employee) demand. The idea is among the top 1 percent of all ideas submitted on MyStarbucksIdea.com (MSI).
For customers on the move, the Mini Starbucks Card provides added convenience, as it can easily be attached to a key chain, gym bag, backpack, or dog leash. And it works like any other Starbucks Card. Once activated, customers can register their Card to ensure balance protection and to enjoy the great savings and benefits that come with Starbucks Card Rewards, including select free syrups and soy, free refills on brewed coffee, and up to two hours of free AT&T Wi-Fi in company-operated Starbucks stores. In addition, customers can sign up for auto-reload to ensure Card balance and to manage their coffee budgets.
“We are delighted to have been able to respond to customer and partner requests on MSI,” said Brad Stevens, director of customer relationship management. “We think the smaller version of the Starbucks Card will come in handy, especially for customers who want the convenience of being able to pop into Starbucks after going out for a run or walking their dog. Another great benefit of carrying a loaded Mini Starbucks Card is that one doesn’t have to carry cash.”
The Mini Starbucks Card measures 1-9/16″ x 2-5/8″and will be available in participating, stores nationwide and in Canada, beginning June 30.
